My how the time flies

So i completely forgot that I once had a blog so to speak here. I randomly ran across it while googling myself (amazing). Anyway, for those of you who might peek in on this still, or for those randomly perusing the net, here's an update over the last year or so:

The Lab had a position open up in Colorado Springs last year, and I decided to take it. This meant that I am now back in Colorado for barely over a year now (moved back the beginning of November), though am still working for MIT. How cool is that? Anyway, the position is a 2-4 year stint, so i basically have 3 years left. Even though I am now in Colorado, given my travel schedule over the last year you'd barely know it. I've flown over 50k miles domestically since Jan 2009. Needless to say I am starting to memorize the seats on planes, and am becoming familiar with some of the flight attendants. That's been sort of a new experience.

My job now consists of chaos with a dash of madness. I'm out here supporting the Lab's interests, and am working on a number of different projects, but really have spent most of the time trying to figure out what the hell is going on more than anything.

Both Lisa and I have immensely enjoyed being back. Actually, speaking of Lisa, she just got a 2 year position at the Colorado Historical Society up in Denver! Given the economy this is huge! She had been working there before on a 6 month contract, and also did her internship there, so she had an in, but it was still great news once she was notified of the 2-year position.

I hate to say it, but really my life has centered on work (when hasn't it really?), so there really hasn't been much else other than that. We did get buddy passes this year (now known as the Colorado Pass), so we'll be taking advantage of the slopes this year for sure. And given how early the snow has started here this year, I'm hoping it will be a great season for it!

For those of you who I've lost touch with, I apologize for not calling/writing/sending flowers. Like I said it's been a really hectic year in terms of travel and just trying to understand what a normal schedule is like. It's been great seeing family and friends in the area again, and I'm hopeful to reconnect with more folks in the area over the coming year. I guess you could say living in Boston for 4 years and losing touch with folks in that time makes it harder to reconnect...it also helps if you know peoples numbers :)

Anyway, I'm going to try to stay with this blog. We'll see how it goes.

Cheers,
-Steve
